Brighton Park sits at the crossroads of Chicago’s history, and this design reflects the forces that shaped the neighborhood. At the center, the rail junction represents the train lines that carried goods through the area and connected Brighton Park to the larger industrial network of the city. Those lines helped define the neighborhood as a working hub where movement, labor, and commerce intersected.

The curved frame beneath the banner echoes the cattle horns of the historic stockyards and meatpacking plants nearby. For generations, many residents worked in those plants, tying Brighton Park to the broader story of Chicago’s Back of the Yards and its industrial past.

Surrounding the rails are botanical elements inspired by Mexican cultural symbolism — corn, cactus, and marigold — honoring the Mexican and Mexican-American communities that helped shape the neighborhood’s identity. The color palette blends these influences with Chicago’s own visual language, incorporating the blue stripes and red stars of the Chicago flag.

Together, the elements form a small emblem of Brighton Park: industry, migration, and culture meeting at the same intersection.
